What the record shows
- South Bend Generating Station filed four requests across 2013 and 2018. The three smaller ones — 10 MW, 6 MW and 68.1 MW — were built; the 410 MW request filed alongside the 68.1 MW one withdrew.
- The two 2013 requests reached commercial operation on the same day, 2017-01-31.
- On 2018-03-22 the same station filed 68.1 MW and 410 MW together. One was built in 2022; the other withdrew in 2021.
- 84.1 MW of the 1,144.1 MW filed at this node reached operation.
- The most recent request, a 250 MW battery, withdrew in June 2025.
What a decision record would have to make explicit
- Filing one project as several interconnection requests is common across the PJM nodes in this set — it appears at Hatfield, Essex, Kearny, Calvert Cliffs, North Anna and others. It is how the record is structured, not evidence that the approach causes a project to succeed.
- At this node the same station filed a small and a large request on one day and the outcomes diverged, which the record shows without explaining.
- The dataset records no withdrawal reasons, study costs or upgrade assignments.
What this does and does not show
This is a reading of a public dataset, not a customer case study: no engagement, customer or client is involved. The dataset records outcomes — what was built, what withdrew, and when — but not why any project withdrew, so no cause is attributed here. Nothing on this page claims GridVision predicted, influenced or would have changed any outcome, and a pattern at one point of interconnection does not generalise to another.
