What the record shows
- NYISO received 40 interconnection requests in 2014 and 166 in 2019, roughly a fourfold increase.
- Of the 166 requests filed in 2019, 135 had withdrawn and 31 were still active at the end of 2025. None had reached commercial operation.
- Across the 2014 to 2018 vintages the built share stayed between 15% and 25%.
- Where the dataset records an in-service date, the median time from request to commercial operation ranged from 4.2 to 7.3 years.
- The 2015 and 2016 vintages took longest to build, at medians of 6.3 and 7.3 years.
What a decision record would have to make explicit
- Only 83 of the 215 NYISO requests recorded as operational carry an in-service date, so the median column is computed from that subset rather than from every project that was built.
- The 2019 vintage is not settled: 31 requests were still active at the end of the dataset, so its built share can only rise.
- The dataset records no withdrawal reasons, so nothing here explains why the 2019 vintage resolved as it did.
What this does and does not show
This is a reading of a public dataset, not a customer case study: no engagement, customer or client is involved. The dataset records outcomes — what was built, what withdrew, and when — but not why any project withdrew, so no cause is attributed here. Nothing on this page claims GridVision predicted, influenced or would have changed any outcome, and a pattern at one point of interconnection does not generalise to another.
