What the record shows
- MISO received 112 interconnection requests in 2014 and 301 in 2019, roughly a tripling in six years.
- Of the 2014 vintage, 30% had reached commercial operation by the end of 2025. Of the 2019 vintage, 7% had.
- The 2016 vintage is the starkest: 220 requests, of which 177 withdrew and 28 were built.
- Median time from request to commercial operation rose from 2.6 years for the 2014 vintage to 4.3 years for 2018.
- 127 of the 301 requests filed in 2019 were still active at the end of 2025, so those vintages are not yet settled.
What a decision record would have to make explicit
- The later vintages are incomplete: requests still active may yet be built or withdrawn, so their built share can only rise.
- This dataset does not carry a point-of-interconnection name for MISO, so a node-level comparison is not possible here and the vintage view is used instead.
- A falling built share across vintages is a description of what happened, not an explanation. The dataset records no withdrawal reasons.
What this does and does not show
This is a reading of a public dataset, not a customer case study: no engagement, customer or client is involved. The dataset records outcomes — what was built, what withdrew, and when — but not why any project withdrew, so no cause is attributed here. Nothing on this page claims GridVision predicted, influenced or would have changed any outcome, and a pattern at one point of interconnection does not generalise to another.
