Which markets Montana requests sit in
A state is a location, not a market. Requests at Montana points of interconnection are studied by the market that runs the queue there, and the process differs between them.
| Market | Requests | Capacity filed | Reached operation | Withdrew | Outcome by capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| West | 507 | 48 GW | 5.9% | 63.1% | |
| SPP | 16 | 3 GW | 0.0% | 81.2% | |
| MISO | 8 | 499 MW | 23.4% | 76.6% |
By resource type
| Resource | Requests | Capacity filed | Reached operation | Withdrew | Outcome by capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wind | 219 | 27 GW | 6.6% | 59.5% | |
| Solar | 150 | 4 GW | 2.6% | 82.1% | |
| Other | 58 | 4 GW | 9.1% | 72.7% | |
| Hybrid | 47 | 8 GW | 2.2% | 56.8% | |
| Battery | 30 | 4 GW | 0.1% | 70.8% | |
| Gas | 27 | 4 GW | 10.5% | 77.9% |
Hybrid covers requests the dataset records as a combination, such as solar plus battery.

Points of interconnection with the most requests
- 69kV line near Sumatra Substation12 requests in the dataset
- 100kV line between Loweth and Two Dot at Groveland.10 requests in the dataset
- Colstrip 500kV Substation7 requests in the dataset
- Yellowtail substation7 requests in the dataset

- 69kV line East of Bole Substation5 requests in the dataset
Names are as the dataset records them, so spelling variants of one station can appear separately.
Method and limits
Each request is counted once, at the capacity and status the dataset records for it, and placed in the state the dataset gives for its point of interconnection. Requests missing a state, status, filing year or capacity are left out. The dataset records outcomes and dates, not reasons, so nothing here says why a request withdrew, and no share is a rate to plan against.
